Donations

We gratefully accept donations for our foodbank and resale operations. How and what to donate can change, depending on our needs. Please read the breif information that follows. If you have further questions then contact us using the information at the foot of this page.

Gift Aid

What is Gift Aid? This is a scheme where charities and some other organisations can claim back an additional 25p for every £1 donated. We can claim Gift Aid from the Government from most donations. If you're a tax payer we may ask your permission to do this.

Donations of food

Our Foodbank welcomes donations of non-perishable items and toiletries. These can be brought in to our centre in Wind Road or deposited at one of our collection bins in Cribarth Stores, Penrhos Premier and Best One Ystradgynlais.

We're open Tuesdays to Fridays from 10am to 4pm. We may be able to collect larger donations. Telephone us to ask on 01639 845475.

Monetary donations are especially useful because they allow us to purchase fruit and vegetables as well as other perishable goods, as and when they are needed.

It's easy to make a donation either directly in to our bank account or using one of the donation buttons for either PayPal or Just Giving.

If you have any questions or want help with this please pop in or contact us on 01639 845475

Donations of furniture and other household items for resale

How to Donate Furniture and Household Items to Our Charity

We rely on the generous support of individuals and businesses to help those in need. Donating furniture and household items is a great way to give back to the community, reduce waste, and directly impact the lives of people who are struggling.

We accept a wide range of items, including:

  • Furniture: Sofas, chairs, tables, wardrobes, and more.
  • Appliances: Working fridges, washing machines, microwaves, etc.
  • Household Goods: Kitchenware, bedding (unused in original packaging), rugs, curtains, lamps, and other essentials.
  • Smaller Items: Cookware, dishes, utensils, and home décor.
  • Games, jigsaws, crafting tools, wool.

Please ensure that all items are in good condition, clean, and free from significant damage. Unfortunately, we cannot accept items that are broken, heavily stained, or pose safety risks (e.g., items that don’t meet fire safety regulations) Furniture must have Fire Safety labels attached.

There are some items we never accept as donations. These include Wall units, glass TV units, beds, used bedding and mattresses.

Sometimes, we must refuse certain items due to over-stocking. We have a limited space and occasionally need to turn down some types of furniture or other items for a time.

We are usually able to collect large, bulky donations. Call us on the number below to find out. Smaller donations can be dropped off at our premises.

If you have questions about donations to the Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre which aren't covered here, please contact us either in person or by telephone using the details below, or by using our Contact Form.
