YVC at the Farmer's Market
We joined the Craig y Nos Farmer's Market on Sunday the 11th August. It was a beautiful day to be at the country park. Sunny and hot with strong sun protection a must. There was a lovely array of traders as usual. I probably spent more than I should have on craft beer and goat milk soap (I just had to try some), it was difficult to resist when everyone was so very friendly and chatty.
The Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre were there for two important reasons, to raise money for our foodbank and to encourage visitors to consider informal volunteering - a new initiative across Powys. I'm very pleased that we did quite well on both fronts. We even raffled off a prize for a meal for two at our Ti a Fi Café and a hearty congratulations to our winner who has already been informed.
Foodbanks are still very much a part of our daily life. Running a foodbank represents a considerable undertaking both in terms of staffing and actually having the goods to satisfy the needs of our community. If you'd like to donate you can online by clicking one of the donate buttons on our Foodbank page, or by popping in to our salesroom or café with however much you can spare. We also take non perishabe food such as tinned goods but please contact us before you bring anything in. Our phone number is 01639 845475 and you can message us here General enquiries
