Summer Shows 2010

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre attended the usual quartet of Summer shows: Libanus over the August Bank Holiday, and in September the Sennybridge and Ystradfellte Agricultural Shows, and the Sleeping Giant Foundation's Owain Glyndŵr Festival over the weekend of the 17th-18th September.

Here you can see the YVC's stand at the Owain Glyndŵr Festival (photograph by Bob Grainger).

The Volunteer Centre stall at the Ystradfellte Agricultural Show. This year it was rather wet and windy, but the weather cleared up over the course of the day and the event proved popular and entertaining.

Ystradfellte Agricultural Show, with Recycling Manager Gerald manning the display of recycled and reconditioned tools for sale.

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre had a large stand at this year's Sennnybridge Agricultural Show, with two linked gazebo and a large display area out front for the large items manufactured by the Woodstore. Here you can see some of these, including a Japanese style bridge for the garden, and a throne which proved very useful during the course of the day!

The Volunteer Centre once again did the entire August Bank Holiday weekend at Libanus Mountain Centre, for their annual Craft Fayre. Left and below are a selection of photographs from that event.

To the left is the main Wood Store section, including the Japanese style bridge, a wishing well, sevral planters of different varieties, and on the left of the picture a cart.

Here we see volunteers relaxing in between the rush

Adding flowers to the planters makes an attractive exhibit out of our Woodstore items

A close up of the throne, with the Wood Store banner behind it.

Gerald fashioning wooden pegs on his sawhorse - they proved very useful in tying everything down against the wind! They were much stronger than modern metal pegs.

The garden tools displayed against the wooden beam. We had a wide variety of spades, forks, hoes, pitchforks, mattocks and rakes avaiilable for sale.
